Frequently Asked Questions

Through our studio in Hockliffe, just outside Leighton Buzzard. We design bespoke fitted bedrooms, wardrobes and storage across Bedfordshire, including Linslade, Dunstable, Ampthill, Woburn, Flitwick, Biggleswade and Luton. Everything is measured, designed and installed by our own team, so the person who plans the internal layout is the same one who signs off the finished room.

It depends on how much of the room you fit out. An average fitted bedroom costs £3,000 to £8,000, with most homeowners spending around £4,000 to £6,000 for a standard double room. A single wall of wardrobes sits at the lower end, while a full scheme with wardrobes, a drawer bank, bedside units and a dressing area pushes towards the upper end, and high-end bespoke schemes reach £8,000 to £15,000 or more. Each additional internal drawer typically adds £150 to £300. We price against your actual room rather than a per-metre rate applied blindly.

Honestly, it depends on your room. If the room is large and you might want to rearrange it later, freestanding furniture keeps that flexibility. Where space is tight or the layout is irregular, fitted furniture usually delivers more usable storage per pound, because it uses the awkward corners, the chimney breast recesses and the full height up to the ceiling that freestanding furniture simply wastes. In a typical Bedfordshire semi or Victorian terrace, that difference is usually the whole argument.

Yes, and this is where fitted furniture earns its cost. Sloping ceilings and eaves are the spaces freestanding furniture cannot touch at all, so they usually end up storing suitcases and nothing else. Built-in units can follow the angle of the roof, with lower doors for folded storage and full-height hanging where the ceiling allows. Rooms with sloped ceilings do require precision cutting, which is reflected in the price, but the storage you recover is usually space you were writing off entirely.

Sliding doors need no clearance in front, so they suit narrow rooms where a hinged door would hit the bed. Hinged doors give you the full opening at once, which makes the inside easier to see and use, and they are generally less expensive. Sliding wardrobes typically cost more because of the track systems, larger door panels and the precision the installation requires. If your bedroom is tight at the foot of the bed, sliding usually wins. If it is not, hinged is the more practical choice.

That is the part most people underestimate, and it is where a fitted bedroom either works or does not. The internal layout is designed around what you actually own: how much full-length hanging you need versus shirt-height double hanging, how many drawers, whether you need shoe storage, pull-out rails or integrated lighting. Two wardrobes that look identical from outside can be completely different to live with. We plan the inside before we discuss the doors.

This is worth asking any company you get a quote from, because it is where quotes quietly differ. Thin carcass board is a common way of making a low quote possible: some suppliers use 15mm board where a properly built wardrobe uses 18mm or thicker. Board thickness affects how the shelves hold weight over time and how solid the unit feels when you open it. We will tell you exactly what your quote is built from rather than leaving it as a line item.

Yes. Most home offices we design are not separate rooms, they are part of a bedroom, a landing or a box room that has to do two jobs. That usually means a desk built to the right height for the space rather than a bought one that does not fit, cable management designed in rather than taped underneath, and storage that closes so the room stops looking like an office in the evening.

Yes, and we supply the fittings rather than just fitting what you buy elsewhere. Brassware comes from Grohe, Perrin & Rowe and Meir, with sanitaryware from Villeroy & Boch, VitrA and Duravit, plus baths and enclosures selected to match. Because bathrooms involve plumbing, tiling, electrics and often a trade or two more, we project manage the whole thing from concept to completion rather than leaving you to sequence it.

Fitted furniture stays with the property, so it is an investment in the house rather than something you take with you. Buyers generally see a well-fitted bedroom as a plus, particularly in smaller rooms where storage is the obvious weakness. The practical way to think about it is that you are paying to make a room work properly for as long as you live there, and the resale benefit is a bonus rather than the reason to do it.
